Your kitchen is the heart of your home and it needs to be cleaned regularly! There are plenty of tasks you probably do on a daily or weekly basis. However, some of the most important kitchen cleaning tasks may get ignored.
Since you only need to do these five things twice a year, you may have neglected them. Here are five kitchen cleaning tasks you should do every spring and every fall.
Organize the Pantry
The pantry gets cluttered and needs to be cleaned every spring and fall. Taking everything out, cleaning the shelves and tossing anything that has gone bad or expired is necessary. You will also have the opportunity to reorganize everything as you put it back.
Clean the Oven
The oven is often neglected, especially if you rent your home. However, it’s necessary to clean it twice a year. If you have a self-cleaning oven, this is an easy task and you just need to follow the instructions of your oven. For a non-self-cleaning oven, you may need a spray oven cleaner or you can use baking soda with water.
Disinfect and Clean Recycling and Garbage Cans
You may want to clean the garbage and recycling cans more than just twice a year, but they should be done at least bi-annually. These need to be wiped out, scrubbed and disinfected.
Clean Cupboards and Drawers
Removing all dishes and other items from the cupboards and drawers is a large job. However, it needs to be done twice a year so you can wipe down the inside and keep them clean.
Clean the Refrigerator and Freezer
You never know what type of science project has been growing in the back of your fridge until you clean it out. Twice a year, take everything out of your fridge and freezer to give it a thorough cleaning.
All five of these kitchen cleaning tasks should be done at least twice a year. They are not exactly small jobs, but they need to be done to keep the heart of your home clean and efficient.
