Are you proud of your bright, clear, clean windows? At Window Sparkle, we definitely are! We love to give our customers’ homes and businesses the curb appeal boost that only comes with beautifully clean windows. But during this time of year, you may be wondering less about your window panes and more about your screens. To remove or not to remove? That is often the question.
Cleaning Your Screens
Let’s talk about your screens for a second. Window screens serve some pretty valid functions; they allow you to open the windows for a burst of fresh air and even a warm breeze without worrying about pests finding their way into your home. But during the winter months, those clean windows tend to stay decidedly closed – after all, you don’t want to let out that warm air that’s racking up your energy bill. Removing your window screens during the winter can actually be beneficial because:
- It gives you a chance to clean the screens. Let’s be serious; you might have clean windows, but what about those screens? Screens collect dirt, bugs and grime and should be cleaned regularly. Removing them during the winter gives you a few months to make sure they’re good and clean in time for spring.
- It gives you more sunlight. Did you know that screens typically block up to 30 percent of sunlight? This could be keeping your home colder than you’d like. Removing your screens during the winter may actually help you save on your energy bill.
- Winter is hard on screens. When temperatures dip and frost (and even snow!) hit, this can make window screens become misshapen and saggy. Preserve your window screens by giving them a break in the winter.
- Your windows will be clearer! As long as you’re not opening your windows, you may as well have as clear and clean windows as possible. Without a screen (and with the help of Window Sparkle), yours are bound to be crystal clear!
