Do you want to keep your windows sparkling in between your professional window cleanings? It doesn’t have to be a time-consuming chore if you approach it in an organized manner. You just need a couple of buckets, one for all your window washing utensils and the other one for your cleaning liquids.
Avoid Direct Sunlight
It is best to clean the windows when the sun isn’t shining directly on them. This causes the cleaning solution to dry quickly and water spots or streaks to form. Just like the professionals do, you will want to use a squeegee.
All that rubbing with wadded up newspapers and paper towels isn’t a good idea because it just moves the dirt around. This causes a static charge which attracts dirt and dust and defeats the purpose of maintaining clean windows.
Try Distilled Water
Distilled water is recommended and vinegar is preferable, but a dishwashing detergent can also be used as a cleaning solution. First remove debris by brushing the window off, then wet with a sponge and remove dirt. Wet the squeegee and start in an upper corner pulling the squeegee down. Keep doing this overlapping each stroke until finished.
Drying the Window Frames
The window frames will need to be dried with a cotton cloth. It is suggested for inside windows to put a towel at the windowsill to catch drips. Since both the inside and outside of the windows need to be cleaned, a handy way to fix streaks is to clean horizontally on one side and vertically on the other.
Preventing glass degradation is a significant reason for keeping windows clean. The porous nature of glass allows it, overtime, to be infiltrated with pollutants and contaminants. Maintaining your windows, whether you are a homeowner or a business owner, promotes pride in ownership.
Clean sparkling windows can transform any space and give you a whole new outlook. You’ll realize what you have been missing.
