We live in a fast moving world. We’re running errands, picking up kids, going to meetings, and multi-tasking the entire time. And we’re distracted! There is so much out there competing for our attention. But despite the distractions there are things we always notice: the dirty, the sticky, and the gross things. I’m a Las Vegas window cleaner, and I’ve got something you need to hear,
When you’re talking to someone, I seriously doubt that you would notice that their breath doesn’t smell bad. I mean, if it doesn’t smell bad you’re not going to be thinking about it (unless their breath always sticks. Then it might be remarkable). You’re not going to notice because having breath that doesn’t stink is just expected. But I’ll tell you, if their breath sticks you’re going to notice. And you’re going to stay away. And maybe I’m just judgemental, but if you’ve got nasty breath I’m probably going to assume some things about you (whether they’re a true thing or not). I’m going to assume your car is dirty. Your probably didn’t make your bed this morning. Heck, maybe those socks your wearing are a couple of days old.
What Your Las Vegas Window Cleaner is Trying to Say
Let’s make this relevant to you small business owners out there (or anyone with windows on their establishment). If someone looks into your store while they’re walking by, they’re probably not going to notice that your windows are spotless. It’s honestly just expected: glass is clear. But if your windows are dusty or riddled with water stains, they’re going to notice. And whether it fair or not, or true or not, that potential customer might also go so far as to assume the rest of your store is a mess and that your product is undesirable.
Those first impressions are important. And they’re very hard to change.
The point? If you’re a Las Vegas business owner living in the dusty desert you’ve got to have clean windows. It’s just something expected. In our busy, distracted world your customers might never notice that they’re clean, but I assure you they’ll notice if they’re not.
